“We came from Tbilisi just to visit this place, and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations. You can feel how loved this place is, every detail and decoration tells a story. The host Mamuka made us feel very welcome.”
Some places you don't plan. They find you.
Fotine sits on the open field where the road passes Tushurebi, in the hills of Tianeti. Most guests are on their way somewhere else — Kakheti, Gudauri, Borjomi — until the house by the roadside makes them stop.
Inside, the walls are layered with old plates, paintings and photographs gathered over a lifetime. None of it is for sale; it is simply the family's collection, and it makes the dining room feel less like a restaurant than a home you've been welcomed into.
The host is Mamuka — guests like to point out that his name means sunrise — and he runs the room the way the name suggests: warmly, and as if you were expected.
